The revised version of the voluntary Children’s Nightwear Standard (AS/NZS 1249) has been released by Standards Australia as a draft for public comment. A copy of the draft is accessible through the Standards Australia website. Please submit any feedback directly to Standards Australia. Comments are due by 19 August 2013.
Significant changes in the revised standard include:
- the introduction of flammability tests to assess melt/drip risks of fabrics
- simplifying and streamlining of the trims’ requirements
- exclusion of many all-in-one styles from the standard
- modified labelling requirements.
Public consultation meetings involving interested groups and members of the standards committee are planned for Sydney and Melbourne.
